Another Round of Teaser Tuesday

After my writing freak-out of the last two weeks, I forced myself to sit down and write. In doing so, an entirely unplanned character popped in to say hello. Not only that, she's forcing me to rework some of the locations I had planned before she showed up. But, I rather like her, so I think she'll stick around for a while. In this teaser, Hailey Sinclair is introduced to the reader. Anna has just arrived at a job site for a Habitat for Humanity house. As always, this is rough and unedited. It's what flowed from my head to my fingers in the first round of writing.

FYI: I'll be snipping the teaser on Wednesday or Thursday.

I can already tell I will like this Hailey character. I love ditzes. And your blog is gorgeous!

I can totally see the characters so clearly from just this small snippet. There's something about the little things - there's nothing I have to keep her hair from getting stuck in a drill...- that make it come to life. Love it!

I'm picturing Hailey's hair getting caught in a drill hehe.

Aww. A ditz. A cute ditz. :D I don't usually like ditzes, cute or otherwise, but this one is growing on me.

Awesome characterization, and in such a short snip! This line really helped nail Hailey (um, no pun intended!):

She's more the bake sale or decoration committee chair type of person.

Loved it!

I love the last line: "I would forget my head if it weren't attached." LOL.

This is good -- your characters are really alive in the page. I especially liked: "Her khaki pants and sky blue sweater highlighted her perfect ivory and pink skin, but accentuated that she had never painted a house."
